About this Holiday
Malaysia Day commemorates the establishment of the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, when the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, North Borneo (Sabah), and Sarawak united to form Malaysia. The day became a federal public holiday in 2010. Celebrations include patriotic events, exhibitions, and performances that highlight the rich and diverse cultural heritage of all Malaysian states and territories.
