Constitution Day, observed on December 25th, commemorates the implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of China on December 25, 1947. The Constitution, promulgated in January 1947, laid the legal and democratic foundation for the governance of the Republic of China. After being removed from the statutory holiday calendar, Constitution Day was restored as an official public holiday in Taiwan from 2026, affirming the nation's commitment to constitutional democracy and the rule of law.
