Eid al-Fitr

Celebration marking the end of Ramadan's month-long fast

About this Holiday

Eid al-Fitr (Lebaran) is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, marking the end of Ramadan's month-long dawn-to-dusk fast. The day begins with Takbiran prayers the night before, followed by communal Eid prayers in the morning, seeking mutual forgiveness (halal bihalal), and sharing festive meals with family. In Indonesia, Eid is synonymous with mudik — the mass homecoming tradition of returning to one's hometown to celebrate with extended family.
